Freedom’s Senior Engineer at NASA Headquarters Receives STS-129 Spaceflight Awareness Award

November 19, 2009, Cape Canaveral, FL — Freedom Information Systems’ Senior Engineer and Analyst at NASA Headquarters, Jim Lynch, has received a Spaceflight Awareness Award.

One of NASAs highest awards, the Spaceflight Awareness Award is reserved for individuals who contribute beyond their normal work requirements to achieve significant impact on attaining a particular human space flight program goal.

Lynch was selected as an honoree because of his primary role in developing the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate (ESMD) Mishap Response Contingency Action Plan (MRCAP) and Security Response Contingency Action Plan (SecurCAP). The two plans change the model of how NASA responds to accidents and security incidents.

“Mr. Lynch has clearly developed a capability that is above and beyond his normal stated responsibilities,” said Tony Gallina, ESMD Information Systems Program Executive, “He has become the sole expert on CAPs during this process, and is clearly the ‘go-to’ resource in ESMD on how to develop a CAP.”

Freedom Offers Digital Security Compliance Audits

Huntsville, Ala, September 15, 2008 – Freedom Information Systems, recently ranked in Inc 5000′s Fastest Growing Companies and Top 100 Government Services Contractors, now offers Certified Security Compliance audits to its clients.

“Compliance is big business,” says Glen Damiani, Freedom’s Senior Compliance Analyst and Data Architect, “not only does legislation mandate compliance, but integrating security best practices is a key objective for organizations to meet the legislative requirements.”

Freedom’s Certified Security Compliance Specialists (CSCS) and Certified Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) Professionals (CHP) understand regulatory compliance requirements and information security, and have the skills that are valued across several industries, especially government, healthcare and finance. These certifications are rare across the country; fewer than 3,000 specialists worldwide have CHP and fewer than 300 have CSCS.

Freedom’s compliance methodology is to conduct a thorough risk assessment to identify a client’s compliance requirements in order to integrate tailored best practices that can be applied in securing the client’s business information infrastructure. Damiani always advises clients to be aware that best practices are dynamic and continually evolve as legislation changes; don’t risk implementing a “stale” practice because of lack of information; trust a certified professional.

“Sarbanes-Oxley, PIPEDA, FFIEC, HIPAA and the ISO standard can sometimes interrupt an organization’s true mission,” states Damiani, “Freedom is here to provide compliance best practices and information security so that they can get back to doing what they do best.”
