Freedom’s Management Assessment and Advisory Support Tool (MAAST) adds the power of direction and focus to major management reviews. MAAST is a Web-based, comprehensive management review application. It includes agenda management, performance topic management, scoring, commenting, and report card generation. This application is simple and robust, allowing changes to agenda, presenters, and performance questions or topics on the fly.
Communication Catalyst
Many project managers have been asked by their staff, “How did the quarterly review go?” Many hours of preparation are put into these briefing packages and the staff wants to know if their efforts were effective and appreciated. The answer is frequently, “I think it went well – there were no questions.” MAAST is a catalyst for a deeper level of communication. Not just from the Program Manager, but from the entire Program leadership. Too often there are helpful comments that remain unspoken during a major review. With MAAST, management assessors can not only score a presenter’s performance in a number of areas, but they can also provide specific comments that are captured and go straight to the score card at the end of the briefing.
Focused
Our clients have used this application to bring focus to a major review. Presenters are told of the focus of say, Risk Management or Cost Performance, before the review. In fact, several factors can be defined for all of the presenters so that they will know what content their briefing should cover. The scoring allows for the focus area to be more heavily weighted in the scoring. Every project has its own unique challenges to overcome. MAAST provides further focus by enabling individual presenting projects to be given unique questions or performance criteria to report against.
Change Is Inevitable, But Manageable
We’ve all experienced agenda changes during a major review. In fact, if an agenda is printed, it is usually out of date after the first few presenters. Time slots and time allocations are easily managed with MAAST’s agenda management segment. Time re-calculations are handled automatically with MAAST in real time. As a change is made, the agenda page can be displayed for all conference attendees to communicate new time slots and briefing order. We make the inevitable easier to management.
All A’s?
With MAAST, presenters get a score card at the conclusion of their presentation by just walking to the back of the briefing room. The MAAST score card gives not only composite average scores, but it also includes immediate individual scoring, complete with attribution of scoring to the leadership staff. Each scorer has the option of providing comments that are included in the presenter’s score card. Presenter can use this information to share with their staff and make improvements for the next review.
